Taylor University hosts the annual Charles Simeon Sermons to further Simeon's legacy of excellence in biblical exposition. Descriptions of all the Simeon expositors and their sermons can be viewed below. 2011 - Colin Smith: How to Navigate a God-Centered Life Colin Smith is the Senior Pastor of The Orchard Evangelical Free Church, Arlington Heights, IL. A native of Scotland, Pastor Smith was senior minister of Enfield Evangelical Free Church in London before coming to the United States in 1996. Information on Colin Smith's radio ministry, Unlocking the Bible, can be found at www.unlockingthebible.com. He is also a Council member with the Gospel Coalition. Pastor Smith's sermon series, How to Navigate a God-Centered Life, looked at the Book of Jonah in this order: Spot the Hidden Idols of Your Heart (Jonah 1), Unleash the Power of God's Word (Jonah 3), Deal with the Disappointments of Your Life (Jonah 4), Rejoice in the Sovereign Freedom of God (Jonah 2).
2009 - R. Kent Hughes: The Providence of God – A Truth for Today R. Kent Hughes was in pastoral ministry for 41 years, the last 27 as Senior Pastor of College Church, Wheaton, IL. Pastor Hughes is the author of many books including the best seller, Disciplines of a Godly Man (1991). He is the general editor of and contributor to the multi-volume Preaching the Word Series (Crossway) and serves on the editorial board of the English Standard Version of the Bible. This series of Simeon Sermons was cancelled due to a sudden loss in Dr. Hughes' family. 2008 - Josh Moody: Jesus Rediscovered Josh Moody was Senior Pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, New Haven, CT, when he delivered the Simeon Sermons. Prior to that Dr. Moody was a missionary in the Republic of Georgia and Azerbaijan. He went on to serve churches in London and Cambridge. Dr. Moody has authored three books the latest of which is Authentic Spirituality: Finding God Without Losing Your Mind (2009). Today Josh Moody is Senior Pastor of College Church, Wheaton, IL. Dr. Moody's Simeon Sermons addressed the theme Jesus Rediscovered from Mark 2:18-3:6, Mark 7:1-23, Mark 8:22-9:1, Mark 9:33-50, and Mark 12: 28-34. |
